Live Tweet - DICE Awards

So, on February 24th at 11:00 p.m., the DICE Awards were live on Youtube. I did a session of live tweets over this event for about an hour and a half. I will be recapping the tweets that I made during the event. 

The award show is over the gaming industry's 59 games that were released in 2021. This was the 25th year of the DICE Awards and it was hosted by Jessica Chobot and Greg Miller. They both opened the event with light comedy and some information on the games that were up for awards that night. 

I will list the categories and nominees as well as the winner of each.

- Action of the Year: Deathloop, Halo Infinite, Metroid Dread, Returnal, The Ascent. Winner: Halo Infinite. 

- Adventure Game of the Year: Death's Door, It Takes Two, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Psychonauts 2, Resident Evil Village. Winner: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. 

- Immersive Reality Technical Achievement: Lone Echo 2, Puzzling Places, Resident Evil 4 VR, Song in the Smoke, Yuki. Winner: Lone Echo 2. 

- Outstanding Technical Achievement: Battlefield 2042, Forza Horizon 5, Moncage, Ratchet and Clank, Returnal. Winner: Ratchet and Clank. 

- Best Music: Deathloop, It Takes Two, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Psychonauts 2, Returnal. Winner: Returnal. 

- Audio Design: Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, It Takes Two, Ratchet and Clank, Returnal. Winner: Returnal. 

- Mobile Game of the Year: Behind the Frame, Fantasian, League of Legends Wild Rift, Moncage, Pokemon Unite. Winner: Pokemon Unite. 

- Sports Game of the Year: Mario Golf Super Rush, NBA 2022, Riders Republic, The Climb 2. Winner: Mario Golf Super Rush. 

- Art Direction: Call of Duty Vanguard, Deathloop, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Ratchet and Clank, Resident Evil Village. Winner: Ratchet and Clank. 

- Achievement in Animation: Call of Duty Vanguard, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Deathloop, Ratchet and Clank, Resident Evil Village. Winner: Ratchet and Clank. 

- Immersive Reality Game of the Year: Demeo, I Expect You to Die, Lone Echo 2, Resident Evil 4 VR, Song in the Smoke. Winner: Lone Echo 2. 

- Online Game of the Year: Back 4 Blood, Call of Duty Vanguard, Final Fantasy 14, Halo Infinite, Knockout City. Winner: Halo Infinite. 

- Achievement in Character: Deathloop, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Life is Strange, Ratchet and Clank, Resident Evil Village. Winner: Resident Evil Village. 

- Achievement in Story: Before Your Eyes, Inscryption, Marvels Guardians of the Galaxy, Psychonauts 2, The Forgotten City. Winner: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.  

- Family Game of the Year: Animal Crossing New Horizons, Cozy Grove, Mario Party Superstars, Ratchet and Clank, Wariowave. Winner: Ratchet and Clank. 

- Racing Game of the Year: F1 2021, Forza Horizon 5, Hot Wheels Unleashed. Winner: Forza Horizon 5.

- Roleplaying Game of the Year: Final Fantasy 14, Pathfinder Wrath of the Richelieu, Shin Mengami, Tales of Arise, Wildermyth. Winner: Final Fantasy 14. 

- Strategy and Simulation Game of the Year: Age of Empires 4, Gloomhaven, Griftlands, Inscryption, Loop Hero. Winner: Age of Empires 4. 

- Achievement in Game Design: Deathloop, Inscryption, It Takes Two, Loop Hero, Ratchet and Clank. Winner: It Takes Two. 

- Achievement in an Independent Game: Deaths Door, Inscryption, Loop Hero, Sable, Unpacking. Winner: Unpacking. 

- Achievement in Game Direction: Deathloop, Inscryption, It Takes Two, Ratchet and Clank, The Artful Escape. Winner: Deathloop. 

- Game of the Year: Deathloop, Inscryption, It Takes Two, Ratchet and Clank, Returnal. Winner: It Takes Two. 

Aside from the awards given for categories of games, they also gave two awards to people in the industry. The Hall of Fame Award went to Ed Boon. The Award of Lifetime Achievement went to Phil Spencer.
