Paws and Claws

Pets are not just pets in my life, they are family.

I have had many pets throughout my life, but I will just be talking about a few in my blog. I currently have two pets, but none of them live with me at the moment because of college. I have a dog, named Cosmo, he lives with my grandparents. I have a cat, named Binx, living with my mom until the next school year.

Binx is my fluffy, black cat who I have had since she was born. She was actually born at my grandparents along with five other kittens. We raised them until they were old enough to give to good homes. My grandma decided to keep two of the kittens, Loki and Monkey. She also still has the mother of the kittens, Mal.

I took in Binx when I lived with my mom. She has been with us ever since. Binx is like my security animal, she helps me through so much. She will be my ESA by the next school year and will be living with me on campus.

Binx's name came from the black cat in Hocus Pocus, one of my mom's favorite movies. I loved the name so much that I named her after it.

My dog, Cosmo, has been with us since he was old enough to go to a good home. My grandma's work friend was breeding Yorkshire Terriers with Palmerainians and that's how Cosmo came to be. He was born with a few other puppies. I chose him from a picture that was sent to my grandma, sooner or later, he was home. His name was first Cosmos, but we decided to take away the S.

Cosmo is a small, fluffy, black, and brown pup. He is so playful and loves to cuddle up to everyone he meets. He is really a perfect companion. I wish he could live with me, but my grandparents are too attached to let him leave. I know he will always be taken care of and loved more than anything.

I get to see both of them every couple of weeks when I go home. I wish I could see them more, but it is impossible with college.

Do you have any pets? Do you think of them as family?

  1. I have my puppy Jamie here on campus. I adopted him in December of 2020 when I decided it was time to get an ESA, specifically a dog. He was only 8 weeks old when we picked him up. It's crazy to see how much he has grown and matured, although he still chews up everything. The latest was when he got to my iPad. I was not a happy camper. Jamie is my little man and he is absolutely family! He is spoiled rotten by his grandparents when we go home.
