Marketing With Pinterest
Pinterest is a very popular social media that has around 459 million users monthly. It is marketed towards primarily women, ages 18 to 49 years old. More than 50% of Pinterest users are not even in the United States.
There are many components to the Pinterest app, including a home feed, images, pins, videos and boards. Brands are able to create pins that people will see on their home feed. They are most likely to use pins about products, recipes, articles, apps, carousel pins, buyable items and fashion.
In order to start up a business page on Pinterest, there are a few things to include. The page needs a username, password, business category, website and business name. It is also good to include a profile picture relating to the business, while also being professional. Business pages have access to things like Rich Pins, analytics and creating ads. They should create boards with relevant pins to their business. It is important to include the website and URL with the pins as well.
The algorithm to Pinterest is pretty simple and follows these ideas; the higher the quality, the higher the priority, the better the source, the better chances of it being noticed, the higher the interest rating, the faster it gets distributed and the first five pins posted after midnight are prioritized.
It is recommended to post between 5 and 30 times a day which may be hard for some businesses. Saturdays are the best days to post and normally in the afternoons and evenings. High-quality visuals and good descriptions are very helpful when marketing with Pinterest. Pinterest works on a bidding system that I never knew existed. This does not seem like something that Pinterest would include but it does.
Pinterest responded to COVID-19 just like the other platforms. They added new things to help users stay involved at home. Pinterest added the "Today" tab which allows for exploring popular pins throughout that day. Things like workout routines, recipes and tips for parenting at home became really popular. Pinterest also added the Pinterest Shop. This was meant to help users find products they like without leaving the house during the pandemic.
Overall, Pinterest seems like a great way to market a business since it has such a large amount of users. It has a few new aspects to it that I never knew existed. These seem to be very similar to other social media platforms, though. What do you think of Pinterest as a business platform?
Pinterest was the first social media account that I ever created for myself. I remember the excitement of scrolling through pages of pins and creating board. These boards had no relevant business meaning, but I thought I was pretty cool. On the other hand, my mom had boards filled with crafts, recipes and party ideas. Before I went to college, we researched all the best gadgets for my dorm room. We found an overflow of information from businesses for college essentials, and it was super helpful. Pinterest is such a good tool because it is useful for all different ages and stages of life.
