Marketing with Snapchat

Snapchat is used by more than 498 million people daily. Its division between male and female users is even, splitting at 24% of each. The majority of people who use Snapchat are between the ages of 13 and 29. 77% of college students use Snapchat on a daily basis, which makes complete sense to me. About 3.5 billion snaps are sent in one day, which is crazy to think about.

The only thing that businesses can have in regards to a bio, is a username. This limits the amount of information that can be shown to users to get the customer's attention. Tools that can be utilized for posts on Snapchat are photos, videos, filters, lenses music, chat, and stickers. Some of the other features on Snapchat, primarily for users, search bar, snap map, cameos, snap games, spotlight, and screenshop.

Some of the content strategies for Snapchat businesses are to post at optimal times, post short, fun content, hold contests, post behind-the-scenes, ask questions, post sales, use influencers, and do live events. These are very similar to the other platforms. Some of the Snapchat success stories are Xbox, McDonald's, and Ralph Lauren.

Snapchat's response to COVID-19 was to do similar things as the other platforms as well. They made information available that was trustworthy. It also boosted their features to accommodate the stay-at-home connections.

Overall, I do not believe that Snapchat is a great way to promote a business given its time-sensitive posts. It also limits a business's information from being at the forefront, like in a bio.

Do you think Snapchat is a good way to promote a business? What businesses do you follow on Snapchat, or have you ever bought anything off of Snapchat?
